What happened was a customer was paying with a card and it was declined, so they paid with another card and paid for 5.83 the total was 170 and some change dont remember. Anyway 5.83 was paid bringing it to 164 and some change... The head lp dude says that he watched me on camera enter in 165.00 "look around" and then cash it out. He also said that there was no interaction with the customer and no "exchange." and this supposedly happened on the 9th of feb. My problem is... That it doesn't make any sense. How was there no exchange when i knew that he/she was going to pay 165.00 in cash? Also the head lp guy was asking phishing questions to see if id admit to doing something on purpose. like if i knew the customers and im like...no... The way lp was talking to me it sounded to me like accusing, but not out right accusing me. Heres my issue and why i think their fos.<br />1. No video proof.<br />2.waited a week to tell me about it excuse:scheduling. Especially sense i worked the next 3 days. The guy basically made me feel like I was purposely trying to defraud my company. Long story short. If we click out for lunch past our 5th hour we get written up even tho the circumstances could be beyond our control . So it's common practice and directly /indirectly implied from store manager and ASM to do so. In hindsight I believe his tactic of making feel guilty was to get me to implicate them. I did write a statement he told me what points to include but didn't tell me exactly how to word it. Told me I can't talk about it which I feel is wrong . I was recently entertained by LP at target in accused of stealing an item worth $300. I was innocent and properly scanned every single item as I went through self check out, but for some reason the expensive item ring up for less than it was supposed to. As I was walking out the store I was detained by three individuals and brought into a window list one door room. They told me that as long as I answered their questions they would not call the police or have me arrested. I cooperated fully answered all of their questions maintained my innocence throughout the process in insisted I scanned absolutely every single item and if they review the videos they would see so themselves. After completing their interview they asked me to sign a document, and at the same time a local police officer entered the room I asked the LP employee why he was there and he replied that since I was a thief he had no obligation to be honest with me and of course he was going to call the police .... The officer and the LP associate left the room for a few moments and upon returning told me that as long as I signed the document that they would not arrest me or pursue any charges, however I would be banned from the target location for a year. Reluctantly I signed the documents and went upon my merry way, however before leaving I was told I would receive communication in the mail stating that I would owe them at least $500 for the merchandise which they read possessed from me and was in perfect condition. I plan to not pay this fee and to fight the charge with target.<br /><br />Does anybody have advice on how to best approach this appeal?<br /><br />In addition any advice specifically on how to deal with LP associates when you are legitimately innocent and being questioned by these mongrels? We don't write statements for people, we don't force you to sign. We don't sit down with anyone unless there is strong evidence against you. All of these incidents sound like something that took place over 20 years ago. Or most people are working for small companies with no experienced LP. We actually work closely with legal and HR before an interview takes place. Again, I am just shocked at some of these stories.
